Xavier Catholic College, Ballina hosted a fundraising night for Lismore headspace to thank them for all the support they have given to the college.

The Xavier College community gathered under the stars on Friday for an evening of fun, laughs and popcorn. The successful event was coordinated by the College School Captains Charlie Murray, Ella Bayly, David Ossess-Santander and Sophie Ferns as a way for the Xavier community to raise funds in support of headspace (National Youth Mental Health Foundation) to enable them to continue to support young people with suffering Mental Health issues.

'The movie night was an awesome new experience. There was a really fun and relaxed atmosphere and it was good to know it was all going to a good cause,' said Year 12 student Kacy.

Through ticket sales for a screening of Shrek, food stalls and a raffle, the students raised $803.55 for Lismore headspace. Lismore headspace provided the following quote regarding how the funds will be utilised.

'Headspace Lismore is so grateful for the amazing fundraising efforts of Xavier Catholic College, particularly the team of school captains who organised and ran such a successful night. The night showed how much support headspace Lismore has from the Xavier Community. We can't wait to work with the headspace Lismore Youth Advisory Group to identify specific areas of need to use the funds raised and continue to provide a responsive youth-friendly service.'

'It was great to be able to support the local branch of headspace and hear about the great work they do in our community. We are eagerly waiting for the next one!' said Xavier parent Matt.

'We were overwhelmed with the positive feedback that we have received and the amount of money that we were able to raise,' said student organisers Charlie, Ella, David and Sophie.

The students also wanted to thank the local businesses who donated to support this cause and for both the staff and students at Xavier Catholic College who volunteered their time to help and make this event possible.
