Title: White Tiger (Composer Mark Spence)
Statement: White Tiger, by Mark Spence, was composed for the drum kit as the solo instrument, with other percussion instruments such as marimba, vibraphone and bass guitar as accompaniments. This piece showcases many different drum-playing techniques, such as triplets, double-stroke rolls, paradiddles, syncopation, polyrhythms , rhythmic ostinatos and diminution. This piece also incorporates modern notation through the use of odd time signatures, showcased through the 7/8 section in the second bar of the song, adding a more technical aspect to playing the drum set and creating a more irregular time signature.

Title: Sorry
Statement: The piece Sorry, is an original composition, which blends the deep, resonant tones of the didgeridoo with the rhythmic power of drums to create a reflection on Indigenous Australian history. Through its powerful soundscape, the piece captures themes of sorrow, resilience, and reconciliation. The didgeridoo, a traditional instrument of Australia's First Nations peoples, represents the enduring strength and connection to country, while the drum's beat symbolises the ongoing struggle for recognition and healing. Together, these elements forge a moving tribute to Indigenous stories, past and present.
