St Joseph's Day was celebrated with great joy and friendship as St Joseph’s Primary School, Woodburn, and Coraki joined forces for a memorable event. (19 March 2024)
St Joseph’s Day was celebrated joyfully, with St Joseph’s Primary School, Woodburn, and Coraki coming together for a day filled with camaraderie, faith, and festivities. This annual tradition, based on our Catholic traditions, exemplifies the unity and community spirit that St Joseph’s schools are renowned for. Commencing with Mass in honour of their Patron Saint, the two school communities united in a display of shared faith, a tradition long cherished within the Parish.
St Joseph’s Primary School, Coraki, extended warm hospitality to their Woodburn visitors, creating an atmosphere of genuine friendship and community. The scrumptious treats and welcoming environment added an unforgettable touch to the St Joseph's Feast Day celebration.
Throughout the day, the schools engaged in a whirlwind of excitement. The tireless efforts of dedicated teachers from both schools ensured that the event ran smoothly, highlighting the power of community and collaboration. The YMO team facilitated a variety of engaging activities, including thrilling water play, slip 'n slides, and energetic disco dancing, which filled the air with joyous laughter.
‘St Joseph’s Day was so fun, especially because we had St Joseph’s Woodburn to spend it with. Thank you to all the teachers from St Joseph’s Coraki and St Joseph’s Woodburn,’ said Year 5 student Philippa.
‘I love St Joseph's Day. This year, I really liked the fun games and how the teachers at Coraki organised them for us,’ said Year 6 student Pip.
‘My favourite part of the day was the water guns. I felt happy about the day,’ said Year 4 student Sam.
This year’s celebration was a testament to the community's strength and the enduring bonds of friendship within these schools, marking their first reunion since the 2022 floods. The dedication of the staff from both schools fostered a deep sense of camaraderie among the students and created cherished memories.
Congratulations to the staff and students of St Joseph’s Primary Schools, Woodburn and Coraki, for embodying the spirit of unity and friendship. Here’s to many more joyous celebrations in the spirit of faith and community!
